Qiu Qiyuan is the gymnast who has run Kaylia Nemour closest on uneven bars. The two have shared the top of the event for three seasons, with very small margins between them.
World champion at 16
Qiu won the world uneven bars title in Antwerp in 2023 with 15.100. Nemour took silver less than a tenth behind. Qiu was also fourth in the all-around and fourth with the Chinese team, and earlier that year won the Asian all-around title.
Paris 2024
In Paris, Qiu won Olympic silver on uneven bars with 15.500, behind Nemour's 15.700. She also finished seventh in the all-around and sixth with China in the team final.
2026 season
Qiu won uneven bars gold at both the Asian Championships and the Asian Games in 2026, along with team gold at both. At the Asian Games she also took beam silver. China's Asian Games team title was the country's fourteenth in a row.
Rotterdam 2026
Qiu is a key part of China's team total on bars and beam. Individually, the uneven bars final on Saturday 24 October is the event to watch. If both she and Nemour hit, the title may again be decided by a few hundredths, and the difficulty and execution breakdown will show exactly where.
