Trampoline gymnastics covers three related disciplines: trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline. All three are about rotation and twist in the air, but their equipment and routine structures are very different.
Trampoline
Ten consecutive skills on a large competition trampoline, scored on difficulty, execution, time of flight and horizontal displacement. Synchronised trampoline pairs two athletes on side-by-side trampolines. Trampoline has been an Olympic sport since 2000.
Tumbling
A pass of eight elements along a sprung track, performed at high speed and finishing with the most difficult element.
Double mini-trampoline
A run-up, a skill on a small two-part trampoline and a second skill onto a landing mat.
Why it is growing
Trampoline is easy to understand and exciting to watch, and many clubs offer recreational sessions for all ages. Our explainer covers the three disciplines in more detail.
