Editorial policy

How we research, write, update and correct what we publish.

Sources

We rely on primary sources wherever possible: rules and documents published by the FIG and European Gymnastics, official results, and reporting from the time of each event. For archive pages we also draw on contemporary coverage, including the coverage that once appeared on this domain, which we summarise and rewrite rather than reproduce.

Archive pages

Event archive pages are reference entries. They describe the format, context and significance of an event and mention results only where they are well documented. They do not reproduce official score sheets. Where an event was disrupted or moved, as many were in 2020, we say so clearly.

Guides

Guides explain rules and practice in plain language. Rules change every Olympic cycle, so we review guides regularly and note when details depend on the current Code of Points. Guides are general information and do not replace advice from a qualified coach, physiotherapist or doctor.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article. To report an error, use our contact page and include the page address.

Independence and sponsored content

ueg.org is independent of federations, clubs and event organisers. Any sponsored content, partnership or advertising on the site will be clearly labelled as such and kept separate from editorial content.

Our illustrations are original graphics. We do not use photographs of athletes without a licence.
