Japan won the men's team final at the World Championships in Rotterdam on Tuesday with 251.928. The WG2 team of Russian gymnasts took silver on 250.329 and China won bronze with 249.193. Japan, who also won the last world team title in Antwerp in 2023 and the Olympic title in Paris, led qualification as well.

Final ranking

| Rank | Team | Total | |---|---|---| | 1 | Japan | 251.928 | | 2 | WG2 | 250.329 | | 3 | China | 249.193 | | 4 | Great Britain | 247.395 | | 5 | Switzerland | 246.497 | | 6 | United States | 245.161 | | 7 | Netherlands | 241.294 | | 8 | Colombia | 240.093 |

Where the title was won

Japan's 1.599 margin over WG2 came from two apparatus. On pommel horse Japan scored 42.332 to WG2's 41.166, and on rings 40.933 to 39.666, together worth more than two points. WG2 were better on parallel bars by 0.834 and slightly better on horizontal bar and floor, but not by enough. Daiki Hashimoto competed on all six apparatus for Japan, and his 14.866 on horizontal bar was the team's best score of the night.

China moved up from fourth in qualification to bronze. Their rings total of 42.766 and parallel bars total of 43.366 were the best on those apparatus in the final, and Zou Jingyuan's 15.366 on parallel bars was the highest individual score.

Britain fourth, USA sixth

Great Britain, second in qualification, finished fourth, 1.798 behind China. They had the best vault total of the final, 43.499, with Jake Jarman scoring 14.866, but their horizontal bar total of 38.733 was the lowest of the final and they scored 39.999 on parallel bars. Joe Fraser scored 12.000 on horizontal bar and Courtney Tulloch 12.233 on parallel bars.

The United States dropped from fifth in qualification to sixth. Patrick Hoopes scored 14.833 on pommel horse, the best mark on that apparatus in the final, but the team's horizontal bar total was 38.899. Switzerland moved up one place to fifth. Ángel Barajas scored 14.900 on horizontal bar for Colombia, the best score on that apparatus.

LA28: Japan and China qualify

The three highest-ranked eligible nations in this final earn a team place of five gymnasts at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Japan and China are in that group whatever happens. Whether WG2 counts as an eligible nation is subject to confirmation by World Gymnastics and the IOC. If it does not, the third place passes to Great Britain. The United States, the 2028 hosts, now have to qualify a team through the 2027 World Championships in Chengdu, where nine more team places are decided.

Full scores are on the men's team final results page. The medal table and the LA28 tracker are updated.
