Jake Jarman built his reputation on power. His tumbling and vaulting are among the most difficult in the world, and he has turned that into world titles on both apparatus. In Rotterdam he is also one of Great Britain's all-around scorers.
The breakthrough in 2022
Jarman's senior breakthrough came at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where he won four gold medals: team, all-around, floor and vault. He was the first English male gymnast to win four golds at one Games. The same year he won European team and vault gold in Munich and team bronze at the World Championships in Liverpool.
World and Olympic medals
- 2023 Antwerp: world vault champion. - 2024 Paris: Olympic floor bronze, fourth on vault, fourth with the team. - 2025 Jakarta: world floor champion.
He also won European vault gold in 2022 and 2024.
The Jarman
Jarman has a floor skill named after him: a double straight salto backward with three and a half twists, rated I (0.9) in the Code of Points. He first performed it at the 2023 Paris World Challenge Cup. Very few gymnasts in history have competed a tumble of that difficulty.
Rotterdam 2026
After the first day of qualification Jarman was fifth in the all-around on 83.698 and top of the vault ranking with an average of 14.633, level on score with Armenia's Artur Davtyan. He scored 14.133 on floor, with a 6.3 difficulty, the highest D-score in the floor ranking at that stage. Great Britain were second in the team ranking behind Japan.
Jarman's medal chances are best on vault and floor, but his all-around score also makes him a contender for a place in the final on 22 October.
