General introduction on disciplines

The eight sportcolumns of the UEG

Seven different sports disciplines with European Championships organised every year characterise the multitude of European competition gymnastics.

The most important disciplines of the UEG are the Olympic disciplines men's and women's artistic gymnastics as well as rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline.

Our fourth discipline - trampoline - was admitted for the first time to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Acrobatics and  aerobic gymnastics complete the UEG competition disciplines, as well as TeamGym, which is, since 2005, officially integrated in the UEG programme with its own Technical Committee.

Last but not least comes the eighth pillar of European gymnastics, gymnastics for all. This discipline takes care of manifold events, programmes and activities in leisure sport and sport for all (Eurogym, Golden Age Gym Festival).
