2015 : BRILLIANT YEAR FOR ACRO!

Dear friends,

2015 promises to be a great year for the European Acrobatic Gymnastics. In June, the 1st European Games will welcome our magnificent discipline and therewith mark its first steps in the Olympic World! We herewith write a page of our history and take this opportunity to thank Laurie Colton, President of the Acrobatic Technical Committee until December 2013, who has made this dream possible.

This new turn could not make sense without the common orientation which both, FIG and UEG technical committees, chaired by Rosy Taeymans and Carine Charlier respectively, wish to take with the continuous common definition of the future orientations. In February, in Berlin, the UEG TC reviewed the artistic notation, in presence of Rosy Taeymans in order to establish a notation standard in Europe and to make development proposals coherent with and following the principles and philosophy of the work done by the FIG TC.

The main intention of the UEG TC is to continue to support the development of Acrobatic Gymnastics and its organisation at all levels. The focus is set on the organisation of the training camp (August 2015 – Cesenatico ITA) so that it best meets everyone’s expectations, as well as the support of the organisation of the European Age Group Competitions and the European Championships which will take place in Riesa (GER) from September 23rd to October 4th, 2015.

The aim of this first edition of the ACRO newsletter is to share with you all, the information related to the 2015 events. We truly hope that the entire ACRO community, gymnasts, coaches and judges will know how to get mobilised to support and promote our beautiful discipline!

From March 4th to 6th, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation organised the Open Azerbaijan Championships as a test event for the organisation of the European Games.  It showed the great standard of the competition in a beautiful arena and demonstrated that the alternation of Acrobatic gymnastics with Rhythmic gymnastics will create a great show and a very special atmosphere for the spectators at the European Games. Acrobatics is extremely excited and thankful to be part of such an outstanding event! For more information please contact: General.Enquiries@baku2015.com

Last minute!

Our compliments to the Portuguese mixed group The Artgym Company, who just won the GotTalent Portugal show, last weekend. After the British group, who won the UK edition in 2010, the European ACRO is doing well.
