TeamGym News! The TeamGym Newsletter N° 6

September 28, 2017

By Per Sjöstrand, TeamGym TC President

Welcome to the 6th edition of the TeamGym Newsletter!

During the summer months many teams have attended some of the numerous TeamGym camps taking place all around Europe. The 14th annual UEG TeamGym camp and coaching course were held in Cesenatico, Italy, on July 15th- 22nd. The camp venue in Cesenatico has proven very popular and comprises several both indoor and outdoor gyms equipped with standard TeamGym equipment, air tracks, foam pits, trampolines and a variety of mats.  Not to forget the interesting location next to the nearby beach on the Adriatic Sea.

The Technical Committee for TeamGym had their summer meeting at the same time as the camp and course. The main topic of the agenda was -of course- to review, update and finalise the new Code of Points.

Hot off the press, the TeamGym Code of Points was approved by the UEG Executive Committee on September 8th – 9th and published on the UEG Intranet last week.

This 2017 version of the Code of Points completely replaces the revised 2013 code and comes into operation on January 1st, 2018.

The Code of Points is the constitution of TeamGym, providing the rules of the sport and the value of all skills performed in the three TeamGym apparatus: Floor, Tumbling and Trampet.

The format of the new code has been updated to better match the various FIG codes.

A summary of the key changes were presented in the TeamGym Newsletter N° 5. Please note that some items have been slightly modified during the work to finalize the code update. Please download and study the new code to find out all the details.

TeamGym Help Desk

The TeamGym Technical Committee operates a Help Desk for federations to post questions regarding the new Code of Points. Please visit the TeamGym section of the UEG webpage or contact the Help Desk!

A new code of points also means that all judges need to revalidate their brevet.

Two courses are schedule for October and November this year. The first course will take place in Prague (CZE) on October 18th – 22nd and the second course in Ängelholm (SWE) on November 15th - 19th. The Technical Committee TeamGym welcomes and anticipates the participation of both current and new TeamGym Federations. A third judges’ course is also planned for February next year. Further information will be sent to all federations as soon as the invitation is ready.

Our focus during 2017 has been on Development and Education and so far both TeamGym level 1 and level 2 courses have been held in Anadia (POR) and Cesenatico (ITA). Both courses covered theory and practice according to the UEG TeamGym education programme. The planning for the 3rd and highest level is on-going. We will inform you shortly!
