Russia sweeps last Acro World Cup of the year

Held in Baku (AZE)

At the first World Cup event after the World Championships, several new names and formations emerged, most notably Russia’s European and World Champion Women’s group featuring Ksenia Zagoskina and Daria Chebulanko who now partner with Anastasia Parshina. With 29.400 they held off a strong challenge by Belarussians Veranika Nabokina, Yulia Ivonchyk and Karina Sandovich.

In fact, Russia was victorious was victorious in each final. Timofei Ivanov and Maksim Karavaev won the mixed pairs gold, Iasmina Ishankulova and Diana Korotaeva beats 2017 junior European Champions Yuliia Pylypiak and Oleksandra-Mariia Tabachynska (UKR) in the women’s pair final, Viktoria Aksenova and Kirill Startsev narrowly edged Azerbaijan mixed pair Abdulla Al-Mashaykhi and Ruhidil Gurbanli while the two Russian men’s groups battled it out for gold. German Kudriashov, Aleksandr Sorokin, Valeriy Tukhashvili and Kirill Zadorin took a three tenths advantage over their teammates Pavel Gubskiy, Kirill Lukianov, Vladimir Petrov and Denis Solun.

The host nation Azerbaijan enjoyed a successful competition as both their mixed pair and men’s pair claimed the silver medal.
