Romanian Gymnastics Federation: elections

Mr Adrian Stoica has been re-elected

 

The General Assembly of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation was held on March 8th, 2013, with many important points on the Agenda, including in particular the re-election of the President and the election of a new Executive Committee for the next period 2013 – 2016.
 
Mr. Adrian Stoica, the only candidate running for this position, was unanimously re-elected as President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation for the third consecutive term. President Adrian Stoica is also the former President of the FIG Men’s Technical Committee and now Honorary FIG Vice-president.
 
After having thanked the members present, President Adrian Stoica congratulated those who have contributed to Romanian gymnastics and worked hard to bolster the sport and to keep the Romanian Gymnastics among the most well-known sports in Romania at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships as well as other major international competitions. He emphasized that this success is the fruit of a collective effort. “Romanian Gymnastics has to remain in the front row of international values. The successes achieved at the Olympics, World or European Championships motivates us to continue our efforts and to increase our strength. At the same time, our specialists will make every effort to contribute to the development of international gymnastics”, Adrian Stoica said.
 
Simona Amanar-Tabara and Danut Grecu, the most known romanian personalities in national and international gymnastics, were also reconfirmed as Vice-Presidents of the Federation. Elected as members of the new Executive Committee are: Liliana Cosma, Adrian Durla, Maria Fumea (FIG/AER-TC member), Cristina Spinu,  Dragos Birzu, Olga Fanica Didilescu and Augustin Pop.
 
At its first meeting, the new EC reconfirmed Mr. Mircea Apolzan (UEG/MTC member) in his position as General Secretary. In the same time, Anca Grigoras (UEG/WTC member) - and Ioan Suciu (WAG & MAG) and Alina Dragan (AER) keep their positions as Federal Coaches and are at the same time member of the Executive Committee.
 
Present at the General Assembly, Nicolae Vieru, Honorary President of the Federation and Honorary FIG Vice-President, congratulated the new members.
 
The General Assembly of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation (FRG) approves the Activities and Financial Reports 2012, as well as of the 2009 – 2012 cycle. Reports revealed a significant increase of the number of licensed gymnasts, the number of athletes participating in national competitions and the good results at major international competitions (artistic and aerobic gymnastics), with about 50 medals won.
 
A moment of silence was held in memory of Maria Simionescu, famous Romanian and international gymnastics personality, who has passed away last August.
