Preview of the 2018 Aerobic Gymnastics season

Two World Cup events, one in Cantanhede (POR) and the other in Suzuki (JPN), provide the Aerobics gymnasts with an excellent opportunity to test their routines, their readiness and compare this to that of their rivals in the months leading up to the big competition of the year: the World Championships in Guimaraes (POR)! There, the World titles for Individual men and women, Mixed pairs, Trios, Groups, Aero Dance and Aero Step are up for grabs for the senior gymnasts. With the retirement of stars like Corina Constantin, Sara Moreno, Vicente Lli, Dora Hegyi and Andreea Bogati, the field will be wide open for an exciting battle between the new seniors like Russia’s Daria Tikhonova and Turkey’s Ayse Onbasi and the established competitors including Hungary’s Daniel Bali, Spain’s Belen Guillemot and we can’t forget the strong teams from outside Europe: Japan, Korea and Mexico.

The World Championships are the only qualifying event for next year’s European Games. The top 8 European mixed pairs and top 8 European groups in the qualification round grab a ticket.

For the younger gymnasts, the world Age Group competitions will be held the week before, also in Guimaraes. This is where the future stars are ready to make a name for themselves.
