Dear Gymnastics friends

Summer is coming and with the EUROGYM-festival in Ceske Budejovice on the agenda it promises to be a great one!!

The EUROGYM-festival is the largest European event of Gymnastics for All and welcomes every two years about five thousand European youngsters. During this EUROGYM-week they can show their gymnastics skills, attend workshops, meet up with old friends and make lots of new ones! A unique and unforgettable experience for everyone!

With a nice town centre, parks on each side of the river that runs through the city and a good sporting infrastructure, the city of Ceske Budejovice will be an ideal host of the 10th EUROGYM! The local organizing committee is doing its utmost to prepare an outstanding festival. The final registration has now closed. Every National Federation registered its participating teams and chose the workshops they prefer to attend. In the third and final information bulletin, which is planned for Mid-June, the LOC will give you all the latest information and details about the program.

Are you as excited as us? Just keep calm and … learn the EUROGYM Flash Mob in the meantime! It’s easy to do and will give you immediately that special EUROGYM-spirit!

The European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the goal is to inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.

#BeActive is a call to action to get Europeans moving!

So after enjoying a successful first edition in 2015, the 2016 European Week of Sport will continue promoting participation in sport and physical activity and raising awareness about the benefits. UEG is extremely proud to be associated with this project as one of the partners of the European Commission. Centralised events and activities will take place from 10 to 17 September, including, among others the official Opening of the Week (10 September) and a Flagship event (15 September). Many more events will take place all over Europe with national editions of the European Week of Sport, organised in close cooperation with national coordinators, starting between 10 and 24 September. Last year, the UEG was very active during the Week of Sport! We developed a UEG Flash Mob, which was performed by 2 Belgian gym clubs during the Official Opening Ceremony. In several other European cities gym clubs also performed the Flash Mob as a symbol of the European Week across Europe.

This was a huge success! Curious? Just take a look at this video and get inspired!

UEG also invited gymnastics clubs all over Europe to open their doors to friends, family, neighbours, total strangers and share their love and passion for gymnastics!

The UEG TC Gymnastics for All is preparing several actions for this new European Week of Sport and will keep you posted! Be ready for action in September 2016! Be active, do gymnastics!

1000 Cities Flash Mob - 2016

Now it’s your chance to shine! As we didn’t quite get 1000 cities active last year, we’ll give it another go! Check out the instructions in the video below, get some friends together and start practicing. This year the Flash Mob will be held on Saturday 17 September at 12 noon CET.

Our third big event this year is the Golden Age Gym Festival. It will be held in the Slovenian coastal town of Portoroz, from 2 to 7 October. The Slovenian Gymnastics Federation and the Local Organising Committee, led by Jernej Saleci, is working hard to make sure that all the gymnasts and spectators will have the time of their life. All their energy is focused into the delivery of an outstanding event that will match the gorgeous scenery that Portoroz possesses and that is exactly what makes it such a perfect location for GAGF! Witness it for yourself in less than 5 months! Final registrations run until the end of this month. You can discover all the workshops and activities on offer in Bulletin N° 2 via the link below.

See you in Ceske Budejovice!
