Looking back on Valladolid with … Marine Jurbert (FRA)

April 12, 2016

After winning the synchro silver at the 2015 European Games with Joëlle Vallez, Marine Jurbert paired with Léa Labrousse to win a historic European title for France

In full preparation for the test event in Rio de Janeiro where Marine Jurbert aims to clinch a ticket to the Olympics, the French trampolinist took a moment to talk to UEG about her success in Valladolid, before shifting her attention to the all-important Test Event!

UEG: How did you experience this victory?

Jurbert: We are very happy and proud to have brought home this first title in women’s trampoline. We felt a lot of joy and emotion when we heard our first Marseillaise [French national anthem].

UEG: Did you have the chance to celebrate?

Jurbert: No, not yet, as the test event is in 10 days and I need to stay focused on the objective. We will celebrate our title when we’re back from the test event, hoping to add the Olympic qualification.

UEG: Now you are on the way to Rio for the test event. Have the preparations gone well?

Jurbert: Preparations are going well, I have one week left to refine the last adjustments and to be ready on D day.

UEG: Did your success in Valladolid influence your preparation?

Jurbert: No, the European Championships were a preparatory stage for the Test Event. I just need to recover quickly as the deadlines follow each other rapidly.

UEG: What do you need to do in Rio to obtain a ticket to the Games? Who are your rivals?

Jurbert: I need to beat one of my rivals, namely the Dutch, German or Portuguese [gymnast].

UEG: What do you think of before mounting the trampoline?

Jurbert: I’m focused on what I have to do.

Thanks a lot Marine! And good luck in Rio!
