Hugely successful third edition of the European Week of Sport

October 26, 2017

Winners of UEG’s #gymbalance challenge announced!

With 12 million participants and over 34 000 events in 32 countries, the 2017 European Week of Sport was a week to remember. We want to thank you for your enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to promoting the benefits of sport and healthy lifestyles.
Remember to take a look back at some of the highlights from the 2017 events on the website of the European Week of Sport. The highlights video features events from across Europe where people of all ages and backgrounds came together to try out new sports, from archery to aquatics to martial arts.
A total 800 000 people engaged in the campaign online this year, 25% more than in 2016. Between 23 and 30 September, the posts achieved a potential reach of 900 million, generating 125 000 engagements. There was also a significant improvement in the balance between the genders of those engaging online, with 49% female and 51% male users. These statistics are encouraging indeed, and we hope to carry this momentum into 2018.

UEG organised the gymbalance photo / video challenge, asking people to post photos or videos of them doing their favourite balance pose. From the Swiss Alps to the shores of Iceland’s lakes, all over Europe people participated. Of course, there were also some nice prizes to win!

And the winners are …
