Golden Age Gym Festival 2012: Here we go!
October 1, 2012
Yesterday, the third edition of the UEG Golden Age Gym Festival started in Italy. More than 1800 participants began their stay with a parade in the streets of Montecatini to reach the Palaterme, where they participated in and assisted at the opening ceremony.
At 17h30, all participants met for the opening ceremony, which signalled the official beginning of this gymnastics' week dedicated to seniors.
Of course, the first meeting was marked by gymnastics with presentations of different disciplines realised by gymnasts of all ages. Italy was represented with a very beautiful "painting" of Venice, Europe and the participating nations with a very pleasant choreography realised with flags.
Some speeches were held by the officials: Massimo Porciani, President of the LOC, Riccardo Agabio, President of the Gymnastics Federation of Italy, Detlef Mann, President of the TC-GfA/UEG and he Mayor of Montecatini Giuseppe Bellandi who officially pronounced the beginning of this GAGF.
The ceremony ended with a true "dancing" song .. « YMCA ». Most of the participants could not resist and danced in rhythm before going to dinner.
This morning, the atmosphere was more "studious" with the beginning of the workshops. From 08h00 on, the workshop « AWAKENING THE ESSENTIAL ENERGY » brought together many participants who were well decided to start this week on a high note.
For the rest of the morning were proposed at different places in the town: FUNNY TRAX, GYMNASTICS WITH FITBALL, SALSA & CARIBBEAN DANCES as well as PILATES… A good way to get in shape by discovering Montecatini Terme where you can find real architectural gems.
Let's meet again this afternoon with the first group performances.
