Portimao (POR) hosted the latest Rhythmic World Challenge Cup

The Rhythmic gymnasts had the opportunity to compete in another World Challenge Cup last weekend, this time in the Portuguese city of Portimao.

Individually, many big names skipped this event. Russia’s Maria Sergeeva claimed the all-around title -her second victory this year- almost 2 points ahead of Israel’s rising talent Nicol Zelikman and a further point ahead of Polina Khonina (RUS). In apparatus finals Sergeeva added three titles: with hoop, clubs and ribbon! After claiming her first ever World Cup medal, a bronze with ball, in Guadalajara 10 days ago, Zelikman upgraded to claim the gold medal in Portimao. Adding also silver with hoop and bronze with clubs to her growing collection.

In the group competition China easily claimed the all-around title, ahead of Finland and Azerbaijan. In the final with 5 hoops China came out on top again, this time beating Azerbaijan. The roles were reversed in the final with 3 balls and 2 ropes: gold went to Azerbaijan!
