Discussions and proposals prepare MTC for upcoming events

UEG’s Men’s Technical Committee met in Rethymno (GRE) last week

The 5 members of the UEG’s Men’s Technical Committee met with their President Jacky Wischnia in Greece to discuss several important topics, including the qualification system for the Youth Olympic Games which will be held in Buenos Aires (ARG) in October 2018, and the format for the second edition of the European Games, scheduled for June 2019 in the Belarussian capital Minsk.

The FIG recently announced their plan to start a junior World Championships so it’s important to work together with the FIG’s MTC to align the age restriction and the competition calendar.

Mario Vukoja updated the TC about the successful training camp held in Tirrenia in July while Vice-President Tom Thingvold gave a report on the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Gyor (HUN) and the great cooperation with global partner SmartScoring. Mario Vukoja and Dimitri Andreev both judged at the Universiade in Taipei where ATOS provided the scoring system. An ideal way to see what works and what can be improved in view of next year’s Europeans in Glasgow where ATOS will also provide the system.

A big thank you to the Greek Gymnastics Federation for the warm hospitality, especially to their President Athanasios Vasileiadis and to UEG’s MTC member Nikos Provias.

The MTC hopes in the future to be invited by NF for meetings to improve collaboration with the Federations and to help development and good relationships with judges and coaches.
