After a great summer, with our annual training camp and the World Championships in my home country Bulgaria, me and my Technical Committee are now fully focusing on the busy year that is ahead!

Not only our European Championships highlight 2019, we also participate in the second European Games together with five other gymnastics discipline. The best countries have been selected and I am sure we can live up to the high expectations placed us by the success of the first edition in Baku in 2015.

We are certainly ready for the challenge!

As a proud Ambassador of this event, I witnessed many spectacular performances and historic moments. The vibe felt by the enthusiasm of the audience gave out an amazing energy. And Europe showed it strength once again, winning all but one medal. In the individual competition the Averina twins were the ones to beat yet again, with Israel’s Linoy Ashram, Italians Milena Baldassarri and Alexandra Agiurgiuculese, Katsiaryna Halkina (BLR) and Aleksandra Soldatova (RUS) giving them a run for their money. The level of the group performances was incredible, and the battle between Russia, Bulgaria and Italy kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

Congratulations to all gymnasts, coaches and judges!

For our next European Championships, we head to Baku in Azerbaijan where the magnificent National Gymnastics Arena will provide our gymnasts with a fantastic setting. We have changed the schedule slightly: to avoid the long competition days, we have added 1 extra day of competition, going from 3 to 4 days. This will relieve the delegations, organisers and us significantly and will contribute to the success of this event.

For the first time, the junior groups will present two different exercise: one with 5 hoops and one with 5 ribbons. The same format will be used at the inaugural junior world Championships one month later.

With just over 200 days to go, the European Games are approaching fast! As you know, rhythmic gymnastics stole to show in 2015, competing in alternation with acrobatic gymnastics and we can’t wait to see which gymnasts will compete and who will be victorious.

Oh and … tickets will go on sale on 1 December! Don’t miss it!

Bigger and even better … that’s what we are going for in Obertraun next year! We are already have some names of the experts who will guide the next generation of stars: Evgeniya Kanaeva (body work) and Gregory Milan (dance). An impressive field, just to make sure the gymnasts can learn from the very best.

So … save the date and join us in the first week of July!
