Averina twins headline Rhythmic Europeans participants list

May 9, 2018

Find out who will compete in Guadalajara!

The National Federations competing in the 34th Rhythmic European Championships had until Friday to nominate their participants. Especially for the senior individuals, it was interesting to see which choices prevailed. Russia had already announced the participation of World Champion Dina Averina but the battle for the second spot between Arina Averina and Aleksandra Soldatova continued throughout the many World Cup events this spring. Head coach Irina Viner has now nominated Arina for Guadalajara. Keep in mind though that changes can still be accepted until 24 hours before competition starts.

Other big names on the list include Israel’s Linoy Ashram who has been on fire recently, claiming the all-around gold at the World Cup in Guadalajara ahead of Soldatova and Arina Averina. She is joined by her talented teammate Nicol Zelikman who won her first World Cup medal in Guadalajara, a bronze with ball. Belarus is sending the experienced Katsiaryna Halkina and the first-year senior with the brightest smile Anastasia Salos. For Bulgaria Neviana Vladinova and Katrin Taseva are on the roster while Italy will be represented by their two young stars Milena Baldassarri and Alexandra Agiurgiuculese. Georgia’s Salome Pazhava is scheduled to compete as well, and Ukraine will send Vlada Nikolchenko and Yeva Meleshchuk.

In the senior group competition, 20 nations will participate! The Bulgarian group has shown the highest difficulty so far this season. We are expecting an interesting battle between them, Italy and Russia.

The junior competition sees 94 gymnasts competing from 39 countries.
