Competition report of rhythmic gymnastics at the World Games

23 gymnasts competed in the Centennial Hall in Wroclaw, aiming for a place in the apparatus finals. Only the best 8 advanced though, providing an exciting battle.

Russian twins Dina and Arina Averina, who split the European titles 2 months earlier, continued to show their strength, dominating this competition as well. Arina started with two near-perfect routines on day 1, with hoop and ball, to take the first 2 gold medals. Dina was second twice while Linoy Ashram matched the sisters’ difficulty with hoop for the bronze medal. With ball, Belarussian Katsiaryna Halkina climbed the podium.

On day 2, Arina added another gold, with ribbon this time. A droppedclub prevented a sweep but still earned her the bronze medal. While Arina won three gold medals, it was sister Dina who performed the routine of the event with a jaw-droppingly beautiful clubs routine that earned the maximum difficulty score of 10 and a near-perfect 9.1 in execution.

Linoy Ashram impressed again, taking the silver with clubs and Katsiaryna Halkina also collected her second medal of the event, bronze with ribbon.
