79th FIG Congress
October 24, 2012
The first act of the 79th Congress of the International Gymnastics Federation - FIG took place two days ago in Cancun (MEX) with the meeting of the President’s Board...
This first working session was attended by President Bruno Grandi (ITA), the three Vice-Presidents and the General Secretary. Yesterday, the first of the two Executive Committee meeting days was held in the presence of the UEG President Georges Guelzec (FRA).
The General Assembly itself will start on Thursday, October 25. Some 420 delegates representing 106 of the 131 national member federations of the FIG are expected in Mexico.
This Congress is particularly important because all FIG authorities will be renewed. These elections concern as well the UEG as there are 62 European candidates for various positions. For the position of the FIG President, 3 candidates are running, all three Europeans.
The European Union will take this opportunity to organise a small reception in honour of the European federations present in Cancun. The UEG President Guelzec and the Director Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman will welcome the expected 61 persons representing 29 NF.
