2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing - 6 European RG gymnasts qualified for the Final

August 26, 2014

Eighteen gymnasts, seven of them representing the European continent, competed today in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual All-Around qualifications. Six of them got their ticket for the Final competition which will be organised tomorrow, Wednesday.
Once again Russia proved that it is the strongest nation in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Young Irina Annenkova did not leave one little chance to her competitors. She had the best scores on hoop, ball and clubs; only ribbon was her “weak” point and she had only the 3rd best score behind Laura Zeng from the USA and Maryia Trubach from BLR.

Seven European gymnasts competed in the qualifications, representing the following countries:
BLR – BUL - ISR – MDA – ROU – RUS – UKR. Only Katerina Marinova from Bulgaria ended on the disappointing 9th rank, missing by a hair the final!
These results prove that the cradle of Rhythmic Gymnastics is indeed in Europe and we are looking forward to a very exciting final, as “our” gymnasts will certainly fight very hard for a place on the podium.
