ECh MAG Lausanne: Mission accomplished for Lausanne

The curtain closed on the 28th team European championships in men’s artistic gymnastics. Three month before the O.G. in Beijing, the high-level of competitions has surprised many. 17 countries went home with medals. The organization of the ECh in Lausanne corresponded to the level of the event.

ECh MAG Lausanne: Apparatus Finals Juniors: two more titles for the British gymnast Daniel Keatings

Already Junior European all-round Champion, Daniel Keatings (GBR) could win 2 more titles, on pommel horse and bars, as well as bronze on floor. Spain, Greece, France and Russia too win a gold medal. Christian Bazan (ESP) can go home with 4 medals, including the gold medal for his routine on rings.

ECh MAG Lausanne: 6 titles, 6 countries

Six countries shared the six titles of the apparatus finals. The favourites won: Golotsutskov (floor), Berki (pommel horse), Van Gelder (rings), Blanik (vault), Petkovsek (parallel bars) and Hambüchen (high bar).

At the end of the finals with many surprises, Russia is crowned with the European champion title. Germany wins the silver and Romania the bronze medal.

The countries of the second subdivision could mainly count on the stars of the last decade. The “oldies” are still among the favourites and met the expectations of their fans and placed themselves well for the apparatus finals.

ECh Lausanne; juniors subdivision I and II: first experience

The junior’s qualifying competition determined the European team champion as well as the junior European champion. The latter will be champion based on the classification of the six apparatus made in the qualifying competition, with a limit of two gymnasts per country.

ECh MAG in Lausanne : Three medals for Great Britain!

Fourth two years ago, the British have experienced a big day since they win the European title, Daniel Keatings the individual title and Daniel Purvis the silver medal. Gustavo Simoes (3rd) will enter in the history by winning the first medal that has never been won by a Portuguese gymnast before.

They reached the end of their dream.....like the young Arnaud, accompanied by his coach, who dreams to become a gymnastics champion and whose story was told in an original and very spectacular way by 216 gymnasts of the gymnastics clubs of the Lausanne aeria.

At the end of the qualification (CI), the 8 best teams got their tickets for the finals on Saturday. The 2006 finalists will also compete in Lausanne. Among them Switzerland to the greatest joy of the organisers and the public.

ECh MAG Lausanne - first subdivision; the Dutch from the bottom to the top

The competitions from the 28th ECh in men’s artistic gymnastics have started. After a failed start, the Dutch team managed to climb back until the fist provisional ranking. Nice performances were presented by the gymnasts from Israel.

Since Monday, the skating ring in Malley is transformed in a huge gymnastics’ hall. The best European gymnasts (seniors and juniors) will participate in the 28th European Team Championships.

28th EC MAG Lausanne : 3 World champions and 5 European champions at the start

April 18, 2008

Participation record with 41 nations, 166 senior gymnasts, 145 juniors, 130 coaches and 74 judges, and some 300 volunteers. The national federation have sent their nominative registrations. 3 World and 5 European champions will compete, as it was announced today in a press conference held in Lausanne.
