The eight junior groups presented a very nice show on the last day of these European Championships. Russia wins with 26.500 points, followed closely by Azerbaijan 25.650 and Belarus 24.300

ECh RG Baku apparatus finals: 4 gold medals for Evgenia Kanaeva RUS

No surprise for these apparatus finals. The Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva wins all four titles. Three times, the Russians win also the silver medal, followed by Ukraine. Azerbaijan wins one bronze medal, behind Ukraine and Russia.

The junior groups representing 17 countries competed in competition I (5 ribbons). With the exception of Ukraine, replaced by Poland, the 8 finalists are the same as 2 years ago.

ECh RG Baku: individual seniors, groups B and C, 2nd part

Italy dominated this 2nd part of group B for quite a while thanks to Julietta Cantaluppi who competed in all four disciplines. But finally Johanna Mitrosz made it possible for Poland to beat Italy; both countries will now join group A.

ECh RG Baku: seniors: Russia is 2009 European Champion

The team competition of the individual seniors was won by Russia (224.35), for the 6th time in a row since 2000. Azerbaijan wins silver (212.850) and Ukraine (209.700) bronze.

The competitions have started with the gymnasts of group C in the following order: Moldavia, Sweden, Romania, Latvia, France, Croatia, Turkey, Lithuania, Great-Britain, Belgium and Norway.

In the second of the three subdivisions, the following countries competed : Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, Georgia, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Poland. Italy has taken the provisional lead of the competition.

In the framework of the 25th ECh in RG in Baku, the President Dimitrios Dimitropoulos had the pleasure to present the new sponsor and partner of the UEG – the Swiss company STADLER Rail Group. A three-year contract binds the two partners.

The 31 delegations all arrived and started with the official training this morning. These competitions are the 25th edition of the European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG). After 2007, it is the second time that they take place in Baku/AZE. The symbol of the manifestation is a gazelle.

25th ECh Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku/AZE: nominative entries

From May 14th to 17th 2009, the ECh RG will be held in Baku, as already in 2007, for the individual seniors and the junior groups. 31 nations will be presented in the senior category but only 17 junior groups will compete.

25th EC RG Baku – definitive entries and drawing of lots

The definitive entries registered for the 25th European Championships in rhythmic gymnastics, taking place from May 15th-17th in Baku/AZE, have enabled the technical committee (TC-RG) to proceed with the drawing of lots for the starting order of the 33 participating federations.

As in 2007, the UEG has allocated the organization of the 25th European Championships in rhythmic gymnastics, individual seniors and junior groups to the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan. This event will take place in the city of Baku.
